Campaign to prevent hospital kitchen closure

The Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has planned the closure of hospital kitchens in an attempt to save £300’000 of taxpayers money. This has caused local concern among politicians and healthcare professionals.

The closure of kitchens could end up costing the NHS Trusts more money in the long-term as caterers risk losing the ability to control their own menus and negotiate with local suppliers.

In an effort to prevent this from happening, Alex Jackson from Sustain has initiated the 45p cheque effort, calculating that if every resident in Oxfordshire donated just 45p, they would raise the £300’000 that removing hospital kitchens would save.
