Apple and Cinnamon Crumble (serves 4)

Ingredients:
700g (1½lb) cooking apples
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
120g (4oz) wholemeal flour
60g (2oz) unsalted butter, cubed
40g (1½oz) soft brown sugar
25g (1oz) chopped walnuts
Method:
1) Preheat oven to 180° C/Gas mark 4.
2) Peel, core and roughly chop the cooking apples. Place them in a pan with a couple of tablespoons of water and the ground cinnamon. Heat gently and stir until the apples begin to soften.
3) Transfer the apples to an oven proof baking dish.
4) To make the crumble, put the flour and the unsalted butter in a bowl and rub together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the sugar and chopped walnuts and mix together.

Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples, spreading it out evenly. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
