Carrots with a Twist

A simple and surprisingly flavoursome way to cook carrots



600g carrots (approx) peeled and sliced into rounds or batons
3 cloves of garlic, whole, skin on
1 orange, chopped
Pinch of sugar








1) Simply add all the ingredients to a pan of boiling water and cook for 10 minutes or until the carrots are tender.
2) Drain, reserving the water for gravy or stock, and remove the orange and garlic. Serve the carrots as they are or with the garlic finely chopped and scattered over the top.


Try adding a handful of herbs (tied up) such as parsley to the water for extra flavour.
The carrots can also be served mashed together with the garlic and a little of the orange.
