LoSalt Launch GoLo Campaign for Chip Shops

Published:

New research from LoSalt1 shows that 45% of people are concerned with the level of salt in takeaways, and that when it comes to food in general, salt is their second biggest concern following fat content.

This year, LoSalt have launched a new campaign encouraging local chip shops to 'GoLo' and offer LoSalt as an alternative to regular salt for customers chips. With 22% of people reported to eat from their local chippie once a week2, this could make a huge difference to the nations' average salt intake.

Hundreds of fish and chip shops around the country have already agreed to offer customers the reduced sodium option and a healthier way to enjoy salt on their fish and chips.

Sonia Pombo, Nutritionist at CASH says "We are all eating too much salt, which is a leading contributor to high blood pressure, one of the main causes of heart disease and strokes. The majority of salt in our diet comes from processed foods, particularly foods eaten out of the home, like takeaways. With salt commonly added to fish and chips, having LoSalt available provides customers with a healthier option, and is a simple way to reduce their salt intake".
