Action on Salt

Supporting events

Every year Hospitals, Surgeries, Sports/Football clubs, Schools, Libraries, Councils, Businesses, Charities and other interested parties hold their own events to support Salt Awareness Week. In 2011 over 500 events took place around the country providing lots of opportunities for our message to be seen and heard.

Shropshire Council
“Shropshire Health Bus at Shrewsbury Town Football Club will be promoting NSAW 2011 to fans at 2 home games.”

Wiltshire PCT
“Wiltshire PCT will be holding a salt awareness stand with dietary advice and blood pressure monitoring at Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club on the 21st March, Salisbury Library on the 22nd March and Salisbury Ford garage on the 24th March.”

Sheffield Hallam University
“Our two main restaurants will be displaying the salt awareness leaflets and we will display posters detailing all our current food offers throughout the day which are low in salt.”

City & Guilds
“City & Guilds will be promoting salt awareness across our office and particularly in the staff restaurant. We will be providing visual aids to the level of salt in the staff restaurant dishes, chefs will also be putting the salt they add to dishes into separate containers so that they too can be more aware of the salt added to the dishes they prepare. We will also have tables of food packaging and processed food so that employees can see how much salt they contain.”

Smithills School
“We are using assemblies and form period to promote the use of the salt awareness resources.”

Whiteparish Surgery
“In the week beginning 21st march we will be holding a display of resources and posters in the waiting room - patients will be encouraged to engage with health promotion whilst attending our daily walk in service.  There will be opportunities to make appointments to review lifestyle, diet and blood pressure with the nurses or health care workers.”
